ROBERTO SPADONI

Roberto Spadoni is a versatile jazz musician, active in many fields: guitarist, composer, arranger, conductor, educator, communicator, author, and translator of educational treatises for the Milan-based publisher Volontè & Co.

He has developed numerous projects for small and medium ensembles, as well as for jazz orchestra, featuring original works and tributes to Henry Mancini, Charles Mingus, Wayne Shorter, Thelonious Monk, Lee Morgan, Gerry Mulligan, and Miles Davis, as well as jazz reinterpretations of masterpieces such as Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev and Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky.

He has collaborated with numerous musicians, including Kenny Wheeler, David Liebman, Gunther Schuller, Maria Schneider, Dave Weckl, Hiromi Uehara, Eliot Zigmund, Bruno Tommaso, Gianluigi Trovesi, Avishai Cohen, Walter Smith III, Paolo Fresu, Miguel Zenón, Fabrizio Bosso, Javier Girotto, Maurizio Giammarco, among others.

He has released many albums as a leader with various record labels, including Parco della Musica Records, Splasc(h) Records, Via Veneto Jazz, Onyx Jazz Club, Wide Sound, ABeat Records, Alfamusic, Jazzit Records, and Cose Sonore – Alman Music.

He holds the chair of Jazz Composition at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music in Rome. He is a teacher and orchestra conductor at Siena Jazz – National Academy of Jazz, and coordinates the MuSa Jazz project at La Sapienza University of Rome.
